Course Outline: (34 hours)

Theory Course (1 unit: 17 hours)

1. Background of animal cell culture

2. Culture media

3. Basic techniques of cell culture, primary culture, secondary culture, preparation of cell lineage, preparation of immortalized cells

4. Applications of animal cell culture

Practical Course (1 unit: 34 hours)

5. Rinse and sterilization, including culture equipment- incubators- Laminar Flu- culture room

6. Preparation of culture media and sterilization, including preparation of base culture- adding of serum, filtration, storage time and conditions of the sterilized environment, providing the necessary buffers, primary culture of chicken embryo fibroblasts and/or kidney of laboratory animal

7. Passage, including rinse, trypsinization, division and incubation

8. Counting and evaluating the vitality of trypan blue cells

9. Maintenance and reuse of stored cells

10. Thawing and reusing of frozen cells or how to thaw cells from frozen state, condition of reculture
